There was a buzz in the latter part of last week for CIPHER Medical’s Fleet and Logistics Team: three brand new Renault Master Emergency Ambulances were delivered last Wednesday, and all three are now kitted and ready for the road, supporting NHS contracts.
Logistics Team Leader, Adam Howell, said “It’s great to have another three additions to the CIPHER Fleet – Pixie, Amber and Aimee – taking our total number of vehicles to forty-eight, including another one coming Friday and a new driver training vehicle arriving next week. We take great pride in our fleet at CIPHER and our Fleet and Logistics Team maintain vehicles to a very high standard.”
As is by now well-known, one of the quirky things CIPHER Medical does is name vehicles after CIPHER staff and their loved ones. The new arrivals have been named Aimee – after one of the Fleet Support Assistants; Amber – after the daughter of Mark, Head of Clinical Services; and Pixie – after the Ambulance Operations Team Leader. The naming of the fleet in this way ensures all vehicles, as well as staff, are part of the CIPHER family. And, of course, it means a lot to staff members to be honoured in this way.
Amber, who turns 9 years old this weekend (happy birthday!) paid a visit to CIPHER HQ to come and visit her namesake, the new AMBER-lance. Amber particularly enjoyed operating the sirens and blue lights, especially the bull horn, and is looking forward to her vehicle coming to visit her school in September.
Amber also took the opportunity to practice some life-saving CPR skills, including successfully deploying the AED. She follows in the footsteps of her older sister, Fearne – who has a Patient Transport Service vehicle named after her – who successfully completed a First Aid Course with CIPHER Medical earlier this year.
